Review of Shaped Snowboards

Tired of the same old shapes? By now you have probably noticed on whichever outlet of social media you prefer the resurgence of shaped snowboard decks into the life and lines of snowboarding.

Tired of the same old shapes? By now you have probably noticed on whichever outlet of social media you prefer the resurgence of shaped snowboard decks into the life and lines of snowboarding. Not that they ever disappeared, but it seems as though everyone has opened their vaults and pulled from the past to help redesign the future. Swallow-tails, surf shapes, shape-it-yourself, you name it and it’s out there. Some feel as though these boards are destined only for deep fields of powder, open bowls, or the untouched treasures in your favorite patch of glades, but we ask you to challenge yourself. No longer are these gems strictly for the freshest of pow days. Directional and still fully capable of being ridden switch, boards like the CarveAir from K2, the Rat Tail from Lib-Technologies, or the CK Nug from Burton have all the technology required and desired to lay down some serious carves or slash the sides on your favorite groomers. It’s refreshing to cruise the board racks and get that “Whoa! What’s that?!” feeling again as something unique catches your eye. Free riding the open trail has never felt so fun! Although they may not make the best option for those who consider the park their home, if you like to ride everywhere and every trail, spice up the lift line or the chairlift a little with something funky under your feet. Snowboarding always has been and always will be about individuality, self-expression, and true fun. So the next time you’re cruising through the website or walking through our front door take a gander at all your options and keep an open mind. With modern advances in technology and materials boards continue to ride better and better every season. Take the challenge, pick up something different, and get out on the mountain!
